启示录一9-20
9我约翰就是你们的弟兄，和你们在耶稣的患难、国度、忍耐里一同有分，为神的道，并为给耶稣作的见证，曾在那名叫拔摩的海岛上。
10当主日，我被圣灵感动，听见在我后面有大声音如吹号，说：
11你所看见的当写在书上，达与以弗所、士每拿、别迦摩、推雅推喇、撒狄、非拉铁非、老底嘉、那七个教会。
12我转过身来，要看是谁发声与我说话；既转过来，就看见七个金灯台。
13灯台中间有一位好像人子，身穿长衣，直垂到脚，胸间束着金带。
14他的头与发皆白，如白羊毛，如雪；眼目如同火燄；
15脚好像在炉中锻炼光明的铜；声音如同众水的声音。
16他右手拿着七星，从他口中出来一把两刃的利剑；面貌如同烈日放光。
17我一看见，就仆倒在他脚前，像死了一样。他用右手按着我，说：不要惧怕！我是首先的，我是末后的，
18又是那存活的；我曾死过，现在又活了，直活到永永远远；并且拿着死亡和阴间的钥匙。
19所以你要把所看见的，和现在的事，并将来必成的事，都写出来。
20论到你所看见、在我右手中的七星和七个金灯台的奥秘，那七星就是七个教会的使者，七灯台就是七个教会。

现在让我们来继续研讨从迷惘到信靠必须采取的第六个步骤──明白凭信心而活是甚么意思。要提醒自己，我们的未来是在神的手中，祂从开始就已经知道结局。首先，我们必须思想一个问题，就是神的回答是以甚么形式临到先知的。我们不知道哈巴谷要等候多久才有回答，但是在得到回答以前，先知奉命「将这默示明明地写在版上，随跑随读」（哈二2）。
「将这默示写上」这句话显示神的回答是一种超自然启示的形式。「明明地写在版上」这句话表示神的启示不只是给哈巴谷，也是给其他的人，因此它需要以永久的形式出现。而「随跑随读」这句话则表示它必须得书写清楚。神的启示必须用文字记录下来，另一个原因是要强调它的内容不能改变，因为未来的环境往往会让人误会，以为神否定了祂曾经赐下的，或者是祂改变了原意。「提醒你自己，未来是在神的手中」

9 I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.
10 On the Lord's Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet,
11 which said: "Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea."
12 I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands,
13 and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man,[a] dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest.
14 The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.
15 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.
16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.
18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
19 "Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later.
20 The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels[b] of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.
"Remind yourself that the future is in God's hands"
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me not to be so heavenly minded that I lose a sense of practicality. Help me remember that "the faintest ink can sometimes be better than the strongest memory". Amen.
