在渐进的成圣过程中，我们应该做甚么呢？圣灵可以成就成圣的工作，但我们首先要渴慕圣灵在我们生命中作工。

希伯来书十二章14节说：「你们要追求与众人和睦，并要追求圣洁。」换言之，我们必须有迫切渴慕的心，让神随祂旨意模造我们。

神借着祂的话语告诉我们，甚么会成为我们属灵成长的障碍。诗篇一一九篇9节说：「少年人用甚么洁净他的行为呢？是要遵行你的话。」这引发我们反省一个问题：神的话语在我们生命中占甚么样的位置？我们是否经常细读神的话语，并付诸行动？

圣灵，这位奇妙的引导者，希望在我们里面建立基督的品性（加四19）。我们若愿意，祂会成就各样有利于基督性情成长的条件。罗马书八章29节指出，神的计划是要我们学效祂儿子的模样。

有甚么会阻碍圣灵的工作呢？有许多：不驯服的舌头、不受控制的脾气、自我中心的态度，及错误的思想等等。如果圣灵住在你心里，祂有能力帮助你在这些问题上得胜。何不让祂掌管你的生命，见证祂在你身上的作为？

What is our part in the progressive work of sanctification? It is the Holy Spirit who does the work but we need, first of all, a desire to see Him work in our lives.

Hebrews 12:14 reads, 'Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy.' There must be a strong desire on our part that we might become what God wants us to be.

God uses His Word to speak to our hearts about those things which would hinder spiritual growth. Psalm 119:9 says, 'How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your Word.' That raises the question - what place does the Word of God have in our lives? How often do we read it and apply it?

Then the Holy Spirit, the Divine Workman, wants to reproduce the character of Christ in us. (Galatians 4:19) If we allow Him, He will maintain the conditions under which the image of Christ will grow. God's plan is stated in Romans 8:29, that we might be conformed to the likeness of His Son.

What can hinder the Spirit's work? It could be any number of things - an unsurrendered tongue, an uncontrolled temper, a self centered attitude, or a wrong thought of life. But if the Holy Spirit is living within you, there is a power now which can overcome those problems. Why not let Him take control of your life and watch the difference He can make?
