在旷野井旁的孤独汉
出埃及记二章11至17节
11后来，摩西长大，他出去到他弟兄那里，看他们的重担，见一个埃及人打希伯来人的一个弟兄。
12他左右观看，见没有人，就把埃及人打死了，藏在沙土里。
13第二天他出去，见有两个希伯来人争斗，就对那欺负人的说：「你为甚么打你同族的人呢？」
14那人说：「谁立你作我们的首领和审判官呢？难道你要杀我，像杀那埃及人么？」摩西便惧怕，说：「这事必是被人知道了。」
15法老听见这事，就想杀摩西，但摩西躲避法老，逃往米甸地居住。
16一日，他在井旁坐下。米甸的祭司有七个女儿；他们来打水，打满了槽，要饮父亲的群羊。
17有牧羊的人来，把他们赶走了，摩西却起来帮助他们，又饮了他们的群羊。

然而，他一开始便试图用自己的方法来解决问题，终于酿成灾难性的后果！
如今来到这个地步，他还可以做甚么呢？他知道神要拯救祂的百姓，而他也将要有份参与这个行动。但神的时间还未到；在这期间，摩西该如何渡过？
他可以选择回到皇宫，可是，法老却对他充满怒气。他可以回到同胞中间，然而，他们却似乎对他心存抗拒。他惟一的选择，就是离开自己的国家，到另一处地方生活，静静等候神的行动，或呼召他参与祂的计划。
你可以想像他在烈日当空，坐在西乃旷野的一个井旁，百无聊赖地等着和推算着下一步要怎样做，或该往何处去的样子吗？就在这一刻，神以祂的恩典与慈爱呼召他；故事的发展，本章的经文已为我们一一细述。神后来确实大大地使用摩西为祂工作。
你有否尝过有些失败，是至今仍无法忘怀的？你是否每次开展工作，都总是碰到失败？你是否确定那是神的心意要你做那件事？那是神的时间吗？请记着，你即使失败了，神仍然会给你第二次机会。只要你愿意听从神的旨意，祂就会把你从失败中扶立起来，然后按照祂的心意来使用你。最后，请你再想想这个在旷野井旁的孤独汉，神怎样以祂的恩慈来眷顾他。
A LONELY MAN BY A DESERT WELL
Exodus 2: 11 - 17
11 Now it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out to his brethren and looked at their burdens. And he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren.
12 So he looked this way and that way, and when he saw no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.
13 And when he went out the second day, behold, two Hebrew men were fighting, and he said to the one who did the wrong, “Why are you striking your companion?”
14 Then he said, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?”
So Moses feared and said, “Surely this thing is known!”
15 When Pharaoh heard of this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of Midian; and he sat down by a well.
16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters. And they came and drew water, and they filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.
17 Then the shepherds came and drove them away; but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.

But one of his first actions was to take things into his own hands and the results were disastrous!
What could he do now? He knew God would deliver his people and that he himself would be involved in it. But it was not yet God's time and what should Moses do in the meantime?
He might be able to return to the palace, but Pharaoh was angry with him. He could not go to his own people. They seemed to have rejected him. His only way was to leave the country and wait for God to act or to call him to share in that action.
Can you imagine him in the hot desert of Sinai, sitting by a well, waiting and wondering what to do next or where to go? God beautifully and lovingly cared for him and you can read the rest of the story in this chapter. God later used Moses in a wonderful way.
Has there been some failure in your life which you can't forget? Does it seem that every time you try something it doesn't work out for you? Are you sure it is God's way just now? Is it his will for you? Is it his time? If you have failed, remember, our God is the God of the second chance. He can take you up and use you if you will let him do it in his own way. Think again of the lonely man at the desert well and how God lovingly watched over him.
