误会
哥林多后书一章12至24节
12我们所夸的是自己的良心，见证我们凭着神的圣洁和诚实；在世为人不靠人的聪明，乃靠神的恩惠，向你们更是这样。
13我们现在写给你们的话，并不外乎你们所念的，所认识的，我也盼望你们到底还是要认识；
14正如你们已经有几分认识我们，以我们夸口，好像我们在我们主耶稣的日子以你们夸口一样。
15我既然这样深信，就早有意到你们那里去，叫你们再得益处；
16也要从你们那里经过，往马其顿去，再从马其顿回到你们那里，叫你们给我送行往犹太去。
17我有此意，岂是反复不定么？我所起的意，岂是从情欲起的，叫我忽是忽非么？
18我指着信实的神说，我们向你们所传的道，并没有是而又非的。
19因为我和西拉并提摩太，在你们中间所传神的儿子耶稣基督，总没有是而又非的，在他只有一是。
20神的应许，不论有多少，在基督都是是的。所以借着他也都是实在（实在：原文是阿们）的，叫神因我们得荣耀。
21那在基督里坚固我们和你们，并且膏我们的就是神。
22他又用印印了我们，并赐圣灵在我们心里作凭据（原文是质）。
23我呼吁神给我的心作见证，我没有往哥林多去是为要宽容你们。
24我们并不是辖管你们的信心，乃是帮助你们的快乐，因为你们凭信才站立得住。

人与人之间的误会，特别是信徒之间的误会，往往是教会生活中最难处理的一个问题。有些时候，我们是因为误解了别人的话而产生误会。另一些时候，是因为对事情一知半解而引起。而且，我们在没有真凭实据去证明某人做错某件事之前，往往不肯先信任他，这也会造成严重的误会。
哥林多信徒不明白保罗为甚么要改变行程。他曾答应会探访他们，但最终却没有实践承诺，究竟是甚么原因呢？
保罗之所以改变计划，是因为他相信那是神的旨意要他改道而行。然而，哥林多教会的某些信徒却不接受这个解释，结果便产生严重的误会。
保罗其实有三大理由要改变行程。第一，正如之前所说，保罗相信这是神的旨意。第二，他不想再责备他们（23节）。第三，他希望他们自行处理教会纪律的问题。他向他们保证，他并非言而无信；反而，他因基督的缘故，要自己做一个有信用的人。神是信实的（18节），倘若保罗不守信用，就只会羞辱神和基督。我们今天也是一样，倘若别人觉得信徒是不守信用的，他又怎会愿意相信神呢？
圣经其中一个要旨，就是要说明神的信实。很多经文都是关乎神的信实，例如：「我们尽管失信，但神是信实的，祂不能背乎自己。」（提后二13）
这对我们有甚么教训呢？就是要言而有信，言出必行。倘若你不能实践承诺，就必须让有关人士明白你的理由。不要因为失信于人而羞辱神的圣名。
他人如果信任你，他们也比较容易相信你所宣认的神。

2 Corinthians 1:12-24
12 For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you.
13 For we are not writing any other things to you than what you read or understand. Now I trust you will understand, even to the end
14 (as also you have understood us in part), that we are your boast as you also are ours, in the day of the Lord Jesus.
15 And in this confidence I intended to come to you before, that you might have a second benefit—
16 to pass by way of you to Macedonia, to come again from Macedonia to you, and be helped by you on my way to Judea.
17 Therefore, when I was planning this, did I do it lightly? Or the things I plan, do I plan according to the flesh, that with me there should be Yes, Yes, and No, No?
18 But as God is faithful, our word to you was not Yes and No.
19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me, Silvanus, and Timothy—was not Yes and No, but in Him was Yes.
20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God,
22 who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
23 Moreover I call God as witness against my soul, that to spare you I came no more to Corinth.
24 Not that we have dominion over your faith, but are fellow workers for your joy; for by faith you stand.
Message
Misunderstandings, especially in church life, are often among the most difficult problems to deal with. Sometimes they arise from a wrong construction on what someone has said. Other times they occur because of only partial knowledge of the facts involved. Not giving a person the benefit of a doubt can also cause serious misunderstandings.
The Corinthian church could not understand Paul's change in his travel plans. He had promised to visit them but he had not kept his promise. Why?
Paul had changed his plan because he believed it was God's will to follow a different path. But some of the Corinthian Christians could not accept that explanation and a serious misunderstanding had arisen between them and Paul.
Paul had three reasons why he had changed from Plan A to Plan B. First, as he had said, it was the Lord's will. Second, he didn't want to hurt them again (v.23). The third reason was that he wanted them to deal with the matter of church discipline themselves. He assured them that he was not breaking faith with them. He wanted to be faithful for the sake of Christ. God is faithful (v.18) and if Paul acted in an unfaithful way, it would reflect on God and on Christ. It is still true today. People are not likely to trust God if they can't trust His children, are they?
The faithfulness of God is one of the great themes of the Bible. There are many verses which speak of this - "I am the Lord, I change not." "If we are faithless, he remains faithful. He cannot deny himself."
What is the lesson for us? Be true to your word. If you cannot do what you have promised, make sure that those concerned know the reason. Don't bring shame to the name of Christ by not living up to your promises.
