我們研究過神給哈巴谷啟示的性質以後，要提出這樣一個問題：先知對神聖的揭示有甚麼回應？答案是：他以謙恭敬拜和讚美的態度親近神。這告訴我們，如果我們要從迷惘走向信靠，就必須採取第八個步驟──我們必須建立一個每天固定的習慣，就是敬拜主以及在迫切的禱告與讚美中向祂敞開自己的心。

哈巴谷承認自己懾服於神所向他揭示的事情，他說：「我為了你將會做的可畏事情，而懷著敬畏的心來崇拜你」（2節，TLB譯本）。當我們去到神的面前，默想祂、聆聽祂的聲音時，心裡馬上會感到非常渴望敬拜祂。

當初就是因為這意念激發了我開始撰寫《與耶穌同行》這些研經筆記。我發現如果我能讓人每天專注在神的話語裡，那怕是一小部分，就一定能夠促使他們更認識神並把自己奉獻給神。結果令我感到非常的震撼，有人寫信告訴我說：「自從我在每天的生活開始以前先親近神，我的生命完全被糾正了。」

你看到嗎？生命的其中一條法則，是你會變得好像你所專注的事物一樣。如果你專注於金錢，你便會變得好像金錢一樣的冷和硬。如果你專注於那些惡意對待你的人，你便會變得好像他們一樣的苛刻和不體諒別人。如果你專注於神，你便會變得好像祂那樣──良善、仁慈和慷慨。

Having examined the nature of God's revelation to Habakkuk, we now ask: What is the prophet's response to the divine unfolding? He draws near to God in an attitude of reverential worship and praise. This suggests the eighth step we must take if we are to move : make it a daily habit to worship the Lord and open your heart to Him in fervent prayer and praise.

Habakkuk confesses himself to be overwhelmed by the things which God has revealed to him: "I worship you in awe for the fearful things you are going to do" (v.2, TLB). One of the inevitable results of spending time in God's presence, contemplating Him and listening to His voice is that there arises within the heart a spontaneous desire to worship Him.

It was this thought that inspired me to launch the Every Day with Jesus study notes in the beginning. I realised that if I could focus people's minds on to a small portion of God's Word every day, it would inevitably result in a greater understanding and devotion to Him. The results have been astonishing. Someone who wrote to me said: "My life has been turned right around since I have begun to focus my thinking on God before I focus on the day."

You see, it is one of the laws of life that you become like the thing on which you focus. Focus on money and you will become like it hard and metallic. Focus on getting even with those who act spitefully toward you and you will become like them - mean and inconsiderate. Focus on God and you will become like Him - good, gracious and generous.
