今天的經文讓我們看到，哈巴谷的內心經過了多大的一個轉變啊！他現在不再在疑惑和屬靈迷惘的黑暗中跌撞，而是以鹿子那麼穩健的腳步，從一個啟示跨越到另一個啟示。他在別人不敢走的高處穩步前行。藉著登上他的守望台而進入了與神的對話，聆聽神的回答。哈巴谷學習和發現了很多事情，以致他的心靈超越了那些一度困擾他內心的疑惑和猶豫。先知是在迷惘中開始，但卻以信靠來結束。

究竟是甚麼給他帶來了那麼大的改變呢？我們可以用一句話來總結：他看見神掌管著地上的事。無論事情與所想的有多不同，他都相信神所做的總是正確。當我們學會了將錨固定在神的本性和性情上，便能有足夠的深度和保證。我們也得學習雖然不能明白神為甚麼這樣做，但也要信靠祂，這樣，我們也就能體會哈巴谷在多個世紀以前所經歷的持久喜樂。

如果我們相信神，真的相信祂，那麼當世界的事情朝災難性的方向發展，或者當新聞報導告訴我們社會正在日漸分裂時，我們也不會因而崩潰。由於我們相信神的話語，因此對於未來我們持有連時事評論員都不可能有的內幕消息（除非他是基督徒）。基督是歷史的主，沒有任何東西能夠阻礙祂完美的目的實現。所以，憑信心走上生命的高處吧。神是最終掌管的那一位。

That a transformation has taken place in the heart of Habakkuk. Now he no longer stumbles in the darkness of doubt and spiritual confusion, but leaps from one revelation to another with the sure-footedness of a deer. He walks on high places where others fear to tread. By climbing his watchtower and entering into a dialogue with God, and by listening to His replies, Habakkuk has learned and discovered so much that his soul is lifted above the doubts and uncertainties that once plagued his mind. The prophet began in confusion - but ends in confidence.

What made the difference? Summing it all up in a single sentence - he saw that God was in charge of earth's affairs, no matter how things looked to the contrary, and he trusted Him to do what was right. When we learn to drop our anchor into the reassuring depths of God's nature and character and learn to trust Him even when we cannot trace Him, then we too will know the sustaining joy that Habakkuk experienced back there long centuries ago.

If we believe in God, really believe in Him, then we will not disintegrate when world events take a disastrous course, or when our newspapers tell us that society is falling apart at the seams. We believe in God's Word and therefore have inside information about the future that no news commentator (unless he is Christian) can possibly possess. Christ is Lord of history - and nothing can hinder His perfect purposes from coming to pass. So step out with confidence on the high places of life. God is the One with the last Word.
