啟示錄一9-20
9我約翰就是你們的弟兄，和你們在耶穌的患難、國度、忍耐裡一同有分，為神的道，並為給耶穌作的見證，曾在那名叫拔摩的海島上。
10當主日，我被聖靈感動，聽見在我後面有大聲音如吹號，說：
11你所看見的當寫在書上，達與以弗所、士每拿、別迦摩、推雅推喇、撒狄、非拉鐵非、老底嘉、那七個教會。
12我轉過身來，要看是誰發聲與我說話；既轉過來，就看見七個金燈台。
13燈台中間有一位好像人子，身穿長衣，直垂到腳，胸間束著金帶。
14他的頭與髮皆白，如白羊毛，如雪；眼目如同火燄；
15腳好像在爐中鍛鍊光明的銅；聲音如同眾水的聲音。
16他右手拿著七星，從他口中出來一把兩刃的利劍；面貌如同烈日放光。
17我一看見，就仆倒在他腳前，像死了一樣。他用右手按著我，說：不要懼怕！我是首先的，我是末後的，
18又是那存活的；我曾死過，現在又活了，直活到永永遠遠；並且拿著死亡和陰間的鑰匙。
19所以你要把所看見的，和現在的事，並將來必成的事，都寫出來。
20論到你所看見、在我右手中的七星和七個金燈台的奧祕，那七星就是七個教會的使者，七燈台就是七個教會。

現在讓我們來繼續研討從迷惘到信靠必須採取的第六個步驟──明白憑信心而活是甚麼意思。要提醒自己，我們的未來是在神的手中，祂從開始就已經知道結局。首先，我們必須思想一個問題，就是神的回答是以甚麼形式臨到先知的。我們不知道哈巴谷要等候多久才有回答，但是在得到回答以前，先知奉命「將這默示明明地寫在版上，隨跑隨讀」（哈二2）。
「將這默示寫上」這句話顯示神的回答是一種超自然啟示的形式。「明明地寫在版上」這句話表示神的啟示不只是給哈巴谷，也是給其他的人，因此它需要以永久的形式出現。而「隨跑隨讀」這句話則表示它必須得書寫清楚。神的啟示必須用文字記錄下來，另一個原因是要強調它的內容不能改變，因為未來的環境往往會讓人誤會，以為神否定了祂曾經賜下的，或者是祂改變了原意。「提醒你自己，未來是在神的手中」

9 I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.
10 On the Lord's Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet,
11 which said: "Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea."
12 I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands,
13 and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man,[a] dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest.
14 The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.
15 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.
16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.
18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
19 "Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later.
20 The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels[b] of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.
"Remind yourself that the future is in God's hands"
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me not to be so heavenly minded that I lose a sense of practicality. Help me remember that "the faintest ink can sometimes be better than the strongest memory". Amen.
