約翰福音十二37-49
37他雖然在他們面前行了許多神蹟，他們還是不信他。
38這是要應驗先知以賽亞的話，說：主阿，我們所傳的有誰信呢？主的膀臂向誰顯露呢？
39他們所以不能信，因為以賽亞又說：
40主叫他們瞎了眼，硬了心，免得他們眼睛看見，心裡明白，回轉過來，我就醫治他們。
41以賽亞因為看見他的榮耀，就指著他說這話。
42雖然如此，官長中卻有好些信他的，只因法利賽人的緣故，就不承認，恐怕被趕出會堂。
43這是因他們愛人的榮耀過於愛神的榮耀。
44耶穌大聲說：信我的，不是信我，乃是信那差我來的。
45人看見我，就是看見那差我來的。46我到世上來，乃是光，叫凡信我的，不住在黑暗裡。
47若有人聽見我的話不遵守，我不審判他。我來本不是要審判世界，乃是要拯救世界。
48棄絕我、不領受我話的人，有審判他的─就是我所講的道在末日要審判他。
49因為我沒有憑著自己講，惟有差我來的父已經給我命令，叫我說甚麼，講甚麼。

在默想以賽亞書六章這最後的一天，讓我們來看一些頗為令人驚訝的事情。約翰告訴我們，我們剛讀完的這段以賽亞在聖殿見異象的經文，實際上是關於耶穌和祂榮耀的異象。約翰告訴我們隱藏在聖殿的黑暗和煙霧背後，有主的同在──與祂的一切榮耀同在。現在我想挑戰你敞開自己，接受主榮耀的新異象。為甚麼呢？因為只有當我們按著神的本性看見神，才能夠按著自己的本性看見自己，這樣，也只有這樣，我們才得到裝備出去服事別人。我們的神呼召我們服事祂，但祂也呼召我們要聖潔地服事。
我們今天有很多方面都和以賽亞的時代相似──充滿混亂，充滿衝突，充滿不穩定。權力的平衡由一個國家轉向另一個國家，每天報紙都報導不同的事情，令我們不禁想到接著還會發生甚麼。我不知道未來幾年地上的列國會遇到甚麼事情，也不知道我們基督教會在世界各地的見證會怎麼樣。但我們確實知道主是主，祂是主宰，祂統領一切，祂高高在上，祂是聖潔和至尊的，在祂充足的光輝照耀下，我們一切的困難都顯得微不足道。
我們需要一再提醒自己：沒有其他神。列國的領袖可能在世界的舞臺上高視闊步，但他們不是神，他們只是受造物，造物主可以輕易處置他們。讓我們舉目仰望永恆的寶座吧，並將注意力放在那裡。我們的神正在掌權，祂是以聖潔掌權。

37 Even after Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him.
38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet: "Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"[a]
39 For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere:
40 "He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn—and I would heal them."[b]
41 Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus' glory and spoke about him.
42 Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue;
43 for they loved human praise more than praise from God.
44 Then Jesus cried out, "Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me.
45 The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me.
46 I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.
47 "If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.
48 There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day.
49 For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken.
Message
On this, our final day of meditating on the sixth chapter of Isaiah, we look at something quite astonishing. John tells us in the passage we have just read that the vision Isaiah received that day in the Temple was really a vision of Jesus and His glory. John is telling us that hidden in the darkness and smoke of the Temple our Lord was present - and present in all His glory. Right now I want to challenge you to open yourself up to a new vision of the glory of the Lord. Why? Because it is only when we see God as He is that we can see ourselves as we are and then, and only then, are we equipped to move out and minister to others. Our God calls us to serve Him, but He calls us to serve Him in holiness.
We live in a day that is similar in many ways to that of Isaiah - times of great confusion, great strife and great uncertainty. The balance of power is shifting from one nation to another, and every day something appears in our newspapers that makes us wonder what will happen next. Personally, I do not know what the next few years are going to hold for the nations of the earth, or for our witness as the Christian Church around the world. But we do know that the Lord is Lord. He is sovereign. He rules over all. He is high and exalted. He is holy and supreme. And all our problems pale in the light of His sufficiency.
We need to remind ourselves over and over again - there are no other gods. The leaders of the nations may strut around on the world's stage but they are not gods - just creatures of whom the Creator can easily dispose. Lift up your eyes to the eternal throne - and keep them there. Our God reigns - but He reigns in holiness.

Prayer
Father, may the vision of Your glory that transformed Isaiah also transform me. Help me to walk through the earth with my gaze firmly fixed on You. Thank You for what You have taught me. To You be all the honour, all the glory and all the praise. Amen.
