確知自己已得著救恩
約翰壹書五章7至13節
7並且有聖靈作見證，因為聖靈就是真理。
8作見證的原來有三：就是聖靈、水，與血，這三樣也都歸於一。
9我們既領受人的見證，神的見證更該領受了（該領受：原文作大），因神的見證是為他兒子作的。
10信神兒子的，就有這見證在他心裡；不信神的，就是將神當作說謊的，因不信神為他兒子作的見證。
11這見證就是神賜給我們永生；這永生也是在他兒子裡面。
12人有了神的兒子就有生命，沒有神的兒子就沒有生命。
13我將這些話寫給你們信奉神兒子之名的人，要叫你們知道自己有永生。

未能確知自己得著救恩的人，很難要他事奉或見證基督。而且，他的靈命也會停滯不前，以致令他在許多方面錯失了神對祂兒女的心意。
其實，只要我們接受神賜給我們的見證，我們就能確知自己已得著救恩。請讀經文的五章10節。而且，聖靈也會見證我們已經重生。你若成了神的兒女，聖靈就會教導你認識新生活的大原則。祂還會提醒你不要做某些事情，以免有違你是神兒女的身分和妨礙你的見證。
此外，我們亦因著相信神的話語而得著確據。請看第13節。我們不是等待將來獲得永生，這節經文告訴我們，我們如今已擁有永生。你只要相信神的話語，就可以確知自己已屬於耶穌基督。
若要證明你在何時何地出生，你會拿出甚麼證據？當然是出生證明書。同樣地，在我們重生的那一刻，神的話語就是我們的出生證明書。這裡的13節，就是其中一節證明我們身份的重要經文；我們必須將它藏在心裡，每當撒但質疑我們是否得救的時候，就拿著它來擊退撒但。

BEING SURE OF OUR SALVATION
1 John 5:7-13
7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.
8 And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.
9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son.
10 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son.
11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
Message
Is it possible for anyone who is a Christian to be absolutely sure that his sins are forgiven? That he is a child of God and that one day he will see Jesus Christ face to face? Wouldn't it be better to say 'Well I hope that my sins are forgiven. I hope I will go to heaven.'
When a person is not sure of his salvation he is not able to serve Christ or to witness for him as he should. His spiritual growth will be stunted and in many ways he will miss out on what God has planned for his children.
We can be sure of our salvation by accepting the witness that God has given. Look at verse 10 of our reading. The Holy Spirit also witnesses to us that we have been born again. If you are a child of God, he tells you and instructs you in the principles of your new life. He also tells you what you cannot do now that you are a Christian and in that way witnesses to you that you are a child of God.
Assurance also comes from believing the Word of God. Look at verse 13. We are not waiting for eternal life-this verse tells us that we have it now. You can have assurance today that you belong to Jesus Christ if you will simply believe the Word of God.
What proof do you have of where and when you were born? The answer is a birth certificate. Let the Word of God be your spiritual birth certificate. Take hold of a verse like this thirteenth verse. Learn it by heart. Use it when Satan comes to you with his doubts as to whether you are saved or not. Repeat the verse or turn to it and read it again. It will give you assurance as you believe the Word of God for yourself.

Lord I thank you for the certainty of your Word to my heart.
